Friday Lovelies : Ghost Chair

I admit, way back when I first glimpsed the ghost chair floating around on design blogs
I wasn't quite sure what to make of them.
But like a handsy, buzzed-up coworker at a holiday party,
eventually the chair just grabs a hold of you.

I've accumulated these images over the past year so I don't know the source of some of them-sorry!

Don't know where these are from, but Ikea carries their own version.
What do you think?
Fabulous or freaky?

  1. I think they're fabulous but they don't look comfortable. I love the image of the ghost chairs around the white butcher block table. The mix of rustic with contemporary is just so...cool.

  2. I love them! Love them. So light and airy. Those pictures were amazing. And then...the Ikea ones. Meh. I have seen them, wanted them, but you know, they would just be a poor substitute. So I'll just continue to visually admire the real thing (because of course, they are way out of my league).

  4. I think they are FAB...only if they are used right. I only lihe chairs if there is otehr color in the room. NO crazy about them with an all white room but I love them with pillows

  5. Very trendy, for sure. But they kind of freak me out. I guess with a pillow they aren't so bad. I have this feeling they will become the lava lamp of our generation. Except with a much, much larger price tag.

  6. My favorite is the sixth picture down, with the mismatched chairs around the butcher block table. I love the contrast. There is a ghost table I have had my eye on, kinda drape-y, but it's above my league price-wise.

  7. It took me a while but I eventually swung your way. I don't think I could pull it off in my ranch but I can definitely admire them!

    Pretty pretty pretty!

  8. I like the look for sure but somehow in the back of my mind I can't help but fear that I will shatter the poor thing with such a massive amount of weight. And then there comes the freight of a glass shard in the derriere. yes I know they aren't glass chairs but my eyes are very convincing.

  9. Its probably the only modern / hip piece of furniture I own...so you know my vote!

  10. They are too modern for my home, but I like them in other people's homes.

I really like them in photo with the blond wainscotting in the background.

  13. Fabulous! I'm still waiting for Overstock to email me letting me know they're available. I'm on the waiting list! :(

  14. I love them even though there's a part of me that doesn't want to because they're so - everywhere. But I have to admit, they've got style. I do worry, though, that sitting down on them on a hot summer day while wearing shorts cannot be a comfortable experience.

  15. I like them, but I'd be afraid that if somebody sat in it, they'd end up all scratched.

  16. I wouldn't have thought about them for a second until I saw some of the pictures you've dug up. Now they're not so bad. Those cushions actually make them quite cute. I'll have let the idea float in my mind a bit.
Thanks for collecting so many shots of them.

  17. I spotted some pillows just like the one shown at Pier One this morning, in pale green and pale peony pink. I've got-sta have one. The chair, not so much. Still love your blog !

  18. I admit I have fallen for them! I think my favorite style is in that last pic!

  19. LMAO!! Thanks for your input everyone!

I agree, I want one so badly but a) it's mucho dinero and b) I'm afraid I might shatter it even though it's lucite. Or that my legs will stick to it in the summer and I'd be forced to remove myself whilst making a suction sound. How embarrasing =)

Suz~ Thx for noticing girl! I thought it was the perfect whimsical pic--only my silly ass would attempt to bike in wedges, LOL.

  20. I feel like the black sheep here, but theyre kind of "freaky." Theyre practically invisible...which doesnt coincide with the large pricetag...unless invisible is what you want...If I'm going to pay that much for something...I think I'd want it seen!
