Fleurs

....as in the French variety. My linen fleur de lis pillow covers from etsy seller Karen (White Twig). I just adore them!! She was so kind to do a custom request for me and they promptly arrived about a week later. She was such a pleasure to work with. Many thanks, Karen!
::looking embarassed, but keeping it honest:: Yes, we still need drapes.

...............and fleurs as in the phalaenopsis orchid variety. I decided to try my hand at keeping yet another orchid alive.
Blog buddy Teresa wisely (and kindly) pointed out, perhaps every time that I think I've done away with one of these, they're really just in their dormant stage (blooms have fallen off, looking naked).
I'm truly a moron. Let's not think about all those poor orchids I've thrown away.
I'm moving forward with this knowledge and if I fail this time, I might or might not tell you........

  1. I always wanted to try growing Orchids, but I'm so fearful that I'll kill them! Maybe some day I will give them a try.

Pillows look fantastic! Are they linen?

  5. do I spy a decal-less side table? How did I miss this transformation? and I love the pillows & the orchids...I hear that they are the HARDEST thing ever to keep alive so if you can do it, consider yourself a horticulurist!

  7. Thanks y'all!! My throw pillow addiction continues....

@ Heidi: Yup, they're linen! The texture's gorge!

@ Lynett: That's it?! Amazing. I probably overwatered my previous ones, too huh? Although it's SO dry here, hmmm. Thx for the tip since I consider you the orchid guru!

@ Katie: You have eyes sharp as a fox, my potty-humored friend. =] I tore those decals off, sanded, and repainted. Voila, so much better!

  11. Love the new pillows! I was just going to order some from her for my living room chairs...I'm totally convinced now! Gorge!

Keep me posted on the orchid. Trust me, they are REALLY hard to kill. Just keep the roots moist, but not too moist. That's the only way I've actually killed mine in the past...by overwatering.

  13. I love love love them! And I am still waiting for the day that you say, "Yes chloe, I would love to drive an hour to south of Denver so I can redecorate your home for you while two growly, barky chihuahuas bark at me and I discover you've been living in a townhome decorated a la something out of Miami Vice."

  22. Your bedroom is looking very pretty, I just love the 2 new cushions on your white bed, they really look good I love orchids, I had one for a couple of years, when we lived on the coast, the humidity was a lot higher there, and it just loved it.

  24. lol I didn't know that about orchids either! I was in Wal-Mart the other day, looking at real orchids and the instructions said you only had to place two ice cubes in them once a week (I think). I thought that was pretty interesting! I might purchase some and see if it really works.

  25. To my new visitors, THANK YOU for dropping by! The more the merrier. =0)

@ Chloe: Seriously, I'll trade you any skills I might have for your fashion flawlessness. Call me, mmkay? =]

@ Melissa #1: The headboard was actually a wall art piece from Pier 1 ($50) that I spraypainted espresso brown and hung! Had to think creatively and there it was, just hiding in our basement. It sort of reminds me of the West Elm overlapping squares headboard.

@ Melissa #2: Genius! I'll have to try out that icecube trick--thank you!

  26. Love those new pillows FC--they look gorgeous!!

And GL with the orchid. I have one in my office that I keep trying to convince myself is still in the dormant stage, but really I'm not so sure. I think it might be dying a slow death.
