Summery

Got a bit restless in the bedroom {insert Beavis & Butthead laugh here} so I added some pretty pattern, a dash of capiz, breezy linen drapes, and a more polished bedside table (and nope, couldn't convince Mr. FC to give up his cruddy table, sorry Amy, believe me I tried!! Though by a happy coincidence, it ended up being pretty shadowed in these photos. Sweet.)

My photos do not do this trellis quilt any justice--it's a much prettier taupe in real life.
Also, I totally do not iron, so wrinkly bed linens ahead. Are we still friends?Photobucket
I'm thinking I need to upgrade to bigger lamps now that the headboard's such a monstrosity.Photobucket

Whole Foods fuschia peonies!
Don't look too closely. I dust everyday, I swear but living in such a dry climate = constant layer of dust.

OK..................no, your eyes aren't playing tricks. I also dabbled with some framed photos above the bed.
Hmmmm.............
Sunburst vs. snapshots?

  1. Where did you get that quilt? I love it! The room looks fab! :)

  2. Beautiful! And I love the quilt too!!! Well done. :)

I love the sunburst, but I think it competes with the capiz chandelier? So my vote is the frames...but maybe with sepia or B&W photos/prints instead?

I recently found your blog and am thoroughly enjoying it!

  3. OMG love love love it! Love the Capiz chandelier. Love the trellis quilt. LOOVE the sunburst. I've been struggling with what to put above the bed too, and I think b/c the headboard is rectangular, the intricate sunburst works best, instead of just repeating the rectangle. Love it - you are just so talented (is your mattress fireproof? Just wanted to double check).

  4. It looks so beautiful. I love the sunburst mirror the best even if I do like photos above a bed.

    ReplyDelete
  5. I love that quilt! I think the frames look better than the sunburst, but that's just me.

    ReplyDelete
  6. It's gorgeous! Nicely done! I think I prefer the sunburst to the frames...

    ReplyDelete
  7. i say keep the frames and chandelier...also where did you get your capiz chandelier from? i've been shopping around for a while now...

  8. Love it! And I really like the frames, I think the scale works better with the new headboard. The new bedside table is gorgeous by the way. Maybe you could move the sunburst to the chair nook?

    ReplyDelete
  9. I actually like the frames with the pictures currently in them. It's nice to see punches of color, and the pictures compliment the blue glasses on your nightstands!

    Love that quilt!

  10. Normally I'm a sucker for framed photographs, but I'm really digging the sunburst above the headboard. Maybe it's the mixing of hard angles from the headboard and circles from the sunburst and bedside table? Either way, it's dope.

  11. Welcome new readers! Please stick around, I love "meeting" new people.

Thanks for your input everyone!Keep 'em coming. =]

@ Anonymous: The trellis quilt was a a Home Goods find for $50 (2 shams included, though I'm not using them)!

@ mariela: The capiz chandie was found at World Market for $70 (+ a $10 cord kit if you so choose). Such a great price (esp. now that W. Elm no longer carries theirs) and it's really quite lovely in person!

@ Em: Heh-heh. This is why I heart you. Fireproof? Heck no. My mattress is made out of good ol' fashioned highly flammable, synthetic materials that are probably releasing toxic VOC's into the air as we sleep. You know, b/c that's just how we roll.

  12. I think everything looks great.

I vote for the frames. I agree with PP, it gives it more of a punch of color.

  13. GIIIIIIIIIIRL, could this room get any better?????? Loves it.

  14. Looks amazing! I'm with the frame peeps. I love the sunburst, but now with the capiz and headboard I think the frames work better.

    So purdy!

  15. This room is gorgeous. Love the sunburst, although I had to keep going back and forth between the sunburst picture and the framed pictures. The wall color is beautiful. Good thing it looks calm and relaxing, because I'm sure a lot of hot stuff is actually going on in there...

  16. The last time I posted a picture of my bed online, I added "The sheets aren't ironed. I can deal with it if you can."

While I bow down to those who have to time to do it, I don't think anyone should feel embarrassed by wrinkled sheets. Our homes aren't department stores, after all.

  17. Love the sunburst. I like that it doesn't mimic the shape of the headboard (I've been looking for something round above mine as well). I saw the same quilt at HomeGoods and debated about getting it!

    ReplyDelete
  18. Great job! I really like the sunburst, but I like the scale of the frames better. (P.S., I don't iron my sheets either!).

    ReplyDelete
  19. I love the entire room. Great job! And I, too, like the sunburst best.

    ReplyDelete
  20. I much prefer the sunburst, but that's just my personal opinion. What color is the wall paint?

    ReplyDelete
  21. Hi Kristin! The wall color is Behr Toffee Crunch. The last pic is the most accurate representation of the color. Hope that helps! =]

    ReplyDelete
  22. Wow, it looks great! I vote for the sunburst.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Oh FC, it looks awesome! I am really loving everything. Not sure which I like better over the bed. Both choices are FAB! I am however really into fuschia lately too!

    ReplyDelete
  24. Another vote for the frames! I reeeally like the frames above the bed. I mean, I'm always a fan of a good sunburst but the frames add that little touch of color that pulls it all together. They totally change the room. Love them.

I don't iron my sheets either. There's sometimes I pull them out of the dryer and have a perma-grimace on my face as I'm putting them on my bed. :D

  25. I love it...I could only find the bedding in Navy in my area...such a steal and it looks dynamite.

I'm digging the sunburst, but both options look great.

I think I need to jock those pillows from you and Suzie now, too. Love them!

    ReplyDelete
  26. The headboard, how did you make it or did you buy it somewhere?

    ReplyDelete
  27. Got another 'where did ya get that question'. :) I've been looking for a round side table like yours (and it looks as though yours may even be flat on the backside??). Where did you find it??

    ReplyDelete
  28. As much as I love a sunburst, my vote is for the frames above the bed. I love the subtle color they add to the room.

  29. beautiful bedroom.
    me want :)

  30. @ For Pete's Sake: Hi and no prob! The bedside table is a demilune table from Home Goods (sorry, I just updated the post w/ some sources--totally forgot).

It was $60 (about 30 inches tall, w/ turned legs, a mahogany finish, and medallion accents).

If you don't have a HG near you, I know that Pier 1 has a black demilune table available (w/ gorgeous rippled legs and so does Target. Hope that helps!!

  31. @ Christine: Hi! I actually made the headboard! My head must have been in the clouds this morning when I wrote the post, sorry. Just went back and added the link for my DIY headboard post but here it is:

  32. Oh My! I didn't think this space could get any better, but you brought it! Love both the mirror and photo gallery! Ugh! So hard to decide which I like better, but for some reason the last photo is really drawing me in..... It's so chic chi but comfy! The trellis comforter is killing me girl, it's killing me! The whole space is freaking fantastic!

    ReplyDelete
  33. Love the sunburst because it breaks up all the rectangles in the room. I know your lampshades are round, but in the pictures they also look like white rectangles! I am not a fan of sunburst mirrors, but I think yours looks great with the wall color and just fits in/complements everything very well. Interesting to see how many different opinions and reasons for those opinions there are!

    ReplyDelete
  34. Looks great! I love the chandelier. I think the snap shots above the bed look the best. The sunburst is pretty, but it feels too small to me for some reason.

    ReplyDelete
  35. What a beautiful bedroom- I love what you did with it. I think the sunburst is my favorite, but the photos look great too- and I am in LOVE with your DIY headboard :)

    ReplyDelete
  36. I hate you for rubbing that trellis quilt in my face, yet again, but I'll get over it. : ) The MB looks FABULOUS. While I like the sunburst mirror, I liked the pop of color that the photo gallery adds. My vote's for the photo gallery.
    Great job, as usual...

    ReplyDelete
  37. Once again... I LOVE it!

I agree with Carly that I like the color pop that the photos add. I also think that it looks great with the size of the headboard and doesn't drawf the bedside lamps as much.

    But, honestly... I don't think you've done anything that I didn't love.

    ReplyDelete
  38. As always, I love everything! I've been debating a capiz chandelier in the master BR as well but I haven't been able to find one in my budget yet. No World Market nearby. :( But it looks absolutely gorgeous in your room.

    ReplyDelete
  39. It looks great. I love love love your bedding. Seriously, you rock my little world.

And, PS. I love your lamps. If you get rid of them, I will drive without stopping to steal them. It's the truth. I'm a klepto.

  40. I think I like the starburst best! How funny, I have one of those lamps, and I have that same paint color in our office!

    ReplyDelete
  41. That quilt is to die for! LOVE IT! Love your blog! :)

    ReplyDelete
  42. Come do mine!!!!!!man that looks good. since planning for the trip i have been away from homegoods.

    ReplyDelete
  43. So awesome! (I am totally tempted to buy those pillows.)
As far as the art above the bed is concerned, I don't see a lot of black going on in your room and I think the frames would look fabulous and modern painted out white. But I like the color photos, especially with the little blue vases. Too cute.

    ReplyDelete
  44. I am totally unobservant. I just noticed the Source List at the bottom... or did you just add that?

    ReplyDelete
  45. People iron their sheets? Who does that? Am I supposed to be doing that? And I vote frames. For now. Mix it up!

    ReplyDelete
  46. love love love the sunburst!

(And of course, the headboard is perfection. So in love.)

    ReplyDelete
  47. Great job. I love the whole combo and I actually like the mirror over the pics. It looks amazing.

    ReplyDelete
  48. Sunburst it is!! Although, they really both look great. And I L.O.V.E. the trellis quilt..I need one..guess I'll have to make ANOTHER trip to Homegoods...darn.

    ReplyDelete
  49. I looks great! Very pretty. I saw that quilt at HG and just knew it would be showing up somewhere in blogland soon.

    Um, I think sunburst.

    ReplyDelete
  50. Love the capiz light! The room looks FAB! i love the trio of photos above the headboard too!

    ReplyDelete
  51. Looks fabulous FC! I just love that trellis patterned quilt--so pretty!

    ReplyDelete
  52. Love your room - I just love your headboard. I do agree, though, that you could use larger lamps, as they are just about level with the beautiful bed.

    ReplyDelete
  53. I LOVE your bedroom, but every time I see a photo of it I feel like something is missing and I just realized what it is! Crown molding! Please consider putting up molding because I think it would be the icing on an already gorgeous cake!

    ReplyDelete
  54. I love the changes to your room. My vote is for the suburst mirror. :) It's a great compliment to your stunning headboard!

    ReplyDelete
  55. I love what you've done with the room. The quilt is amazing, though I do agree with the sunburst mirror as well.

Also, can I ask where you purchased the linen drapes? Sorry if I missed that in your source list...

    ReplyDelete
  56. love it! if you want your lamps taller why dont you prop them up on some decorating books. or other coffee table books

    ReplyDelete
  57. Absolutely gorgeous! Your room looks soooo good! I prefer the starburst mirror. Where is it from?
