He's a fan.

Dear Bloggers,
Stop the madness. My parents need to get out more.

Licks from the "normal" one,
Hiro

What the Hairy Bastard's trying to say is, we had a blast this past weekend cheering on the Iowa Hawkeyes to an 8-0 record (a first in our school's 162 yr history) and a ranking of #4 in the nation in the BCS polls. We may not get any style points for how we play, but whatev--we'll take it.

As I'm ever the pessimist realist, who knows how long this will last, so.........

GO HAWKS

Care to share your alma mater with us?
I love learning more about you all. =]

  1. Is Hiro going to sport face paint and a big foam finger next time? This is seriously too cute.

Here's my peanuts fav getups: http://tearinguphouses.blogspot.com/2009/10/this-is-love-more-halloween-sidekick.html

p.s. Whenever I think of the Hawkeyes I think of SNOW. Everytime I've visited that school it's been in the dead of winter! Good times...

  2. I know I've told you about our Iowa connections, but every time you mention the Hawks I feel the need to reiterate just so you know that I'm almost cool enough to know you.

Anyway - my parents met at Iowa, and they're loving how the Hawks are playing this year. Very fun.

  9. University of Georgia! Go DAWGS!

Well this year has been one of their crappiest years. Its actually painful to watch. I just wish Matt Stafford and Knowshon Moreno didnt leave us so soon. But can you blame them? $40 million?!? Yeah I would have left without thought.

  10. Georgia has DAWGS too? I thought that only we UW Huskies had DAWGS in Seattle!

If only our DAWGS would win a few more games...sigh. Oh well. We have a new coach, and our quarterback is hotter than anyone's quarterback! Just maybe not as an accurate of a passer. : )

  12. GO HAWKS! What a game on Saturday!! I went to UW-Milwaukee (black & gold as well) but my husband went to Iowa. So therefor, our household will always be Hawkeye fans!

  13. I root for two college teams: BC and UVa. When BC moved into the ACC, things got difficult. :)

Here's my Baxter at UVa: http://www.flickr.com/photos/jeanninepc99/2982266488/in/set-72157608455422007/

  15. I always forget you're originally from my neck of the woods in the midwest. Creepy.

I can't share my alma mater with you because I'm a slacker that never finished her degree; but I will say that I do get all excited whenever I see SD on TV (as in, SD playing the KC yesterday) because I ALWAYS think it's South Dakota.

And then my confusion sinks in, and I have to go lay down. :D

  16. Also, Peets would like to say, "Herro Hiro."

  20. Alright, hear goes!!1 I am a OU Sooner Fan!!! LOVE FOOTBALL!! Of course I live in Sooner country, good old Oklahoma. I am glad that the Hawks are doing well this year. I cannot say the same for my Sooners. We have been season ticket holders for about 5 years and I was Sooner born and raised!! Although our Sooners are not doing as well this year I will always be a diehard!!! BOOMER SOONER!!!

  21. Congrats on the record. We are huge Florida State fans. (FSU) We were great in the 90's and have been terrible in the last 10 yrs. We are really struggling this year. We love Bobby Bowden but it is time to retire. My husbands parents have had season tickets for the last 32 yrs. My husband is sad that we won't be able to go to the games anymore because we are moving up north. We will watch all the games though. We love college football.

  22. I'm a Spartan and so I'm a bit bitter after last weekend's game! But, congratulations anyway ;) It's always good to see a Big 10 school in the Top Ten (esp if it isn't those da*n buckeyes) ;)

  23. I'm only commenting to say hi. The only thing that interests me about sporting events at all is the tailgating. And even the promise of flowing kegs isn't strong enough to make me actually go near a tv or real live game of any sort. And since Bill Cosby went to my alma mater and always wears Temple University gear, only from him do I know that I should cheer for the "Owls". Hoo. Go Owls. Um, ok?

  24. I normally would giving three shouts for FSU football, but we've seen better days this season. :( Congrats to Iowa, though! Oh, and I think I might love Hiro. A lot.

  25. As a graduate of Michigan State, I threw up in my mouth a little bit when I read this blog post. Sorry - FC - but I don't think I can support your blog anymore. ; )
What a heartbreaker Saturday's game was (for us). I was at the game, and it was DEVASTATING. Good game, though. I'll save my other comments in the name of good sportsmanship. ;)

We have lost our OU Sooner Magic this season but we will be back!

  27. Heck yes! I LOVE learning more about you guys. So happy to see college pride (winning season or not). Believe me, we're not used to winning but that never hindered our mad loyalty to our school. =]

And I had no idea there are so many of you Big Ten'ers out there! Woot-woot!!

And all you Gators out there--CONGRATS on being #1 in the nation. It's going on, what, 5 yrs now? =]

  28. @ Kelly: Can't.Breathe. LOLing.Too.Much. Lordy, those getups are hilarious. I hear ya on the snow--it's the only time we go back now (holidays) & it's quite depressing. You must visit Iowa in the fall & spring--it's breathtaking!!

@ Em: Of course I remember. I totally thought of your parents! And hello, you're so cool it effervesces out of your pores. If I stand close enough, maybe I'll absorb some. Like alka seltzer after a hangover.

    @ Shannon: Go Owls! Hoot-hoot!

@ all the OU alums: my boss is a Sooner so I know all about your awesome school. I root for them when Iowa sucked (which was a lot). BOOMER SOONER!!

  29. @ Carly: No! You're a Spartan?! And we were getting along so well.... =] Hey, I threw up a little too (ok, a lot) in my mouth just watching that game. Can't imagine actually BEING there. In all fairness, you Spartans deserved that win more than we did, esp. after the way we played. I won't be offended if your comment was composed of all $*#%^&#^@*&!. Ha!

@ Suzie: LOL! Hey, I didn't realize we had a football team until my sophomore yr. Or was it that I never actually made it INTO a game due to various tailgating overindulgences until my sophomore yr? Heh. =]
