Fall Family Photos 2014

For the third year in a row, our dear friend Ben photographed our family of three.  For the third year in a row, I sweated all the details, but Quinn had her own agenda.  We were just along for the ride.  Shouldn't I know better by now?!  Oh this threenager girl. #mamaneedsadrank  ;-)

And for the third year in a row, instead of running away screaming, Ben captured such great glimpses into our family's personalities.  His wife/photog assistant, Sara, has the magic when it comes to getting Quinn to smile for the camera.  Ben and Sara, we love you. Like lots.

Here are a few (a lot) from that early evening shoot.  I understand if photos of people you've never met bore you to tears.  Be comforted by the thought that I'll totally, maybe have another blog post up in.....a month? Probably ;-)

My sarcasm tends to take over when I write but I mean this with all my heart.  This little girl shines with the brightest light from above and within.  We are so grateful for her.

Do family photos make you sweat as much as they make me?
I'm always stoked we did them but seriously, bring the antiperspirant.
As always, thank you for taking the time to stop by!

  1. Awww! I love the kissy one!! :)
Given that my sister-in-law is a photographer, you'd think I'd get used to having a camerawoman hunting me paparazzi-style all the time... but no. Still kinda stresses me out. Fortunately, she's AH-MAZING, and you can't see me cringing/sweating in her pictures. Not sure how she does that... ;)

    1. Right after the kissy one was snapped, she went "Ewwww wet kiss". ;-)

Thank you so much, S! This year was a whole new battle starting with Q adamant on wearing her fairy costume for the pics. It just snowballed from there ha! We can look back & laugh on it now. Major props to your sis-in-law the photographer! This biz is no joke.

      Hope all's well with you!

  2. Adorable photos! On my last family photo adventure with a 3.5 year old and a 1 year old I bribed the older boy with a Star Wars toy. He got to play with it while we were setting up shots and then I held it above my camera when we took photos. As soon as we were done with a set he got the toy back. There were a few photos that were deleted because he kept pointing at the toy! Little kids might not follow directions all the time, but they usually look even cuter when they're not!

    1. Thanks, gal!

Yep, we've tried the tricks of the trade EVERY year. Toys, bubbles, balloons, candy, gah! This year it was threenager meltdown beforehand on what to wear for the pics (fairy costume). Next year I might just let her ;-) You're so right though, these kids are even cuter in candids.

  6. OMG...they are precious. Our girls are now 21 and almost 25. The family favorites are the crazy, go with the moment, not posed at all photos! One of the first pics I have of the girls together, Elie is holding her new baby sister and right when I went to snap the picture Katie spit up! LOL It was priceless. They still laugh about it today.

  12. Your photos turned out amazing. I think some of the cutest ones are candid. Catching Quinn in the act of being natural. I love the one of her running. She is such a cute little threenager. What beautiful fall colors you had for the pictures. They'll look gorgeous hanging on your wall!

  16. You, my friend, have a beautiful family. Great photos - I love that Q is just her own woman. No mom or dad can force her to do something she doesn't want to. Love that personality.
