Home Depot Holiday Style Challenge!

Updated by request:
snit top (cream color, super relaxed fit so size down) / jean legging / boots (Michael Kors 2011) / beanie & mittens (old, Target)
black giftwrap (Hobby Lobby) / wide black striped cotton ribbon / skinny navy grosgrain ribbon
:-)

I kicked up my heels & decked the halls a bit early this year.  The Home Depot invited me to participate in their glorious Holiday Style Challenge & I was beyond thrilled for the chance to get creative & festive!  Today I'm sharing the details over on the Home Depot Apron Blog.

Back in October, as we were setting up the amazing tree they sent us (amongst other cool holiday items), the weather outside was in the 70s.  I'm sure some neighbors did double takes as they walked past our atrium window where we placed the tree (or am I the only one who peers into people's windows).  I wouldn't have noticed as I was in my element.....nestled in sparkly ornaments & the lemony-minty scent of evergreens......wading thru glitter & empty boxes wrapped as gifts.

Quinn was confused.  Was Santa coming for Halloween?!  As she was helping (or not helping) me hang ornaments, I was awed to see that she was getting caught up in the magic of it all.  Even if it wasn't quite the real thing yet.  That holiday spirit.....it's exhilarating.
It was such a fun, inspiring, exciting experience.  I still can't believe I had the honor of being a part of it.  Thanks a million to The Home Depot for having me!  Many thanks to you for taking the time to check it out (I'm in great company; the other bloggers participating are incredible)!

Hot cocoas all around :-)

  1. Uhm, you have that much snow already??

Girl, you did an awesome job! Love love love the black and white colour scheme and all the DIY touches. So many great items at the Home Depot but I love how you've made them yours. Question is, did you take the decorations down? Or did Quinn luck out and get to celebrate Christmas for the next two months?

    1. Crazy, right?! It was in high 60s last Saturday for Quinn's birthday party, then two days later the temps plummeted to single digits! Cray cray.

Thank you SO much for your positive, encouraging words, J. Means a lot coming from you. I seriously considered leaving everything up if it hadn't been for Quinn's party! I had nightmares of 50 guests bumping into the tree, playing catch with the ornaments ;-)

    1. Thanks so much, Meg! I'm so happy to hear that! Just call me Santa's elf ;-)

I'm still in disbelief over how much snow we've gotten this early in November. It's magical as long as I don't have to go out in it ;-) Stay warm!

    1. Thanks a million, love!! I'm blushing. Half of the pics, I'm sporting a red nose & a grimace ;-) It was all fun & cute until we started losing feeling in our buns. The Mr. was amused for about 3 minutes, haha!

Thank you for your kind comment over on the HD blog, love you.

  4. I was just thinking the same thing as Julia...you really ought to be in a commercial! Such a fun photo of you and you are adorable! You did a fabulous job with your tree and your house is beautiful. Quinn looks darling. Such a magical time of the year especially for the little ones. I can't wait to start decorating. We plan to get our tree the day after Thanksgiving. I also wanted to say your outfit is so cute and cozy. Love the top and those boots. Have a great weekend!

    1. Oh gosh, Allison you are the sweetest! Thank you for your always unwavering support & encouragement!

Nothing like a freezing photo shoot to get the blood pumping ;-) It was 7 degrees out & the Mr. thought it was cute until he couldn't feel his fingers to press the camera button. All fun & games until someone loses feeling in things ha.

I can't wait to start decorating (again) as we took everything down to accomodate Quinn's birthday party. So I think we'll put the tree back up the day after Thanksgiving, too. Do you do the real tree route?

    1. Aw thanks, mama!! My neighbors think I'm nuts. My husband thinks it's cute for the first 3 minutes then he's all muttering about numb fingers & stuff. Heh.

Hope you're well, catching some zzzz's, not going crazy, & staying warm up north!
