HOUSE TOUR

Welcome to our home!
We bought our fixer-upper of a house in the fall of 2007.
We actually closed on Halloween; fitting for the scary state the house was in.
It was in dire need of renovating, updating, & a whole long list of other stuff (that doesn't seem to be getting any shorter), but the location is amazing.
We were/are up for the challenge.

We've realized along the way that making a house into a home is incredibly rewarding.
Much like finishing a marathon.  Our motto is: "Slow & steady wins the race".
(I'm just assuming here.  I don't run unless I'm being chased.)
Have a look around & just click on each room description for more about that space.

As always, thanks for dropping by!

  1. I love your blog! I am so sorry for your sad loss of your furry child. We had a big ole slobbery furry kid who also kind of suddenly became very ill and deteriorated to the point where we could no long allow him to suffer. Your post about his passing almost made me cry. Have you read "The Art Of Racing In The Rain?" The narrator is a dog, and it's his life with his family told from his perspective. I obviously don't know you, but from the post about Hiro, I just know you would love that book. Are you originally from Iowa? I only wonder because I saw Hiro all dressed up in his Iowa suit. ;-) Okay, I'll stop rambling......ooh look! a squirrel! (I really am that random and ADD in life.) I am a TOTAL newbie to the blogging scnce, so I am looking for all kinds of inspiration......your blog is exactly that. here's mine (and it's like maybe 10 days 'old') http://thecheekycrow.weebly.com

  9. I love your house, it's really cute! My husband may be accepting a job in the Denver area and we are clueless about the nice suburbs out there for families. Your house has character and it seems like the houses we have browsed online are pretty bland. Any recs on great areas to live that have a lot of kids?

  10. You've done such a great job on your home! I have 5 people in a 1200 sq foot home and am trying to get some good ideas on where the heck to put everything. I would LOVE to see where you are putting what inside all of those gorgeous spaces!

    1. Hi Tamie! Thanks so much for your kind words!
I'm a minimalist at heart & since there's only 3 of us, keeping the clutter under control is easy so far. I rely on multifunctional pieces like storage ottomans & try to maximize vertical space for storage (shelves). We also have decently sized closets to help corral stuff, as well as a double garage.
